Depok-Social media is a place for people to find information and channel their aspirations. No exception, children who have also been exposed to gadgets and social media in daily life. The importance of education regarding the use of social media properly and correctly also needs to be done. The Creative Business Study Program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI) together with the Creative Business Student Association (CBSA) held community service entitled Deciative with the theme “Utilizing Social Media In A Creative Ways” at Rumah Belajar Senen, Central Jakarta on Sunday, August 8, 2022.

The head of community service, Dr. Fia Fridayanti Adam, M.Si., said that the community service activities were aimed at increasing and accommodating students’ concerns for the welfare of the community. “This activity can also increase knowledge and skills in utilizing social media in developing self-quality. Creative ideas that are owned by children who are currently still in the development stage can also be poured into content on social media,” explained Fia.

A total of 58 children from the Rumah Belajar Senen participated in the activity. The interesting thing that was found during the activity was the enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the Rumah Belajar Senen children during the activity. Enthusiasm when sharing their dreams and aspirations makes students and lecturers able to direct children to take advantage of developments in information and communication technology by using social media properly and correctly.

Risca Fleureta Hudiyono, S.E., M.S.M., a lecturer in the Creative Business Study Program, gave material about “Do’s and Don’ts in Social Media”. He said, “During the Covid-19 pandemic, gadgets are devices that are often used, both adults and children. Good use of social media will have a good impact as well. Therefore, social media needs to be used as well as possible to encourage learning motivation in order to achieve their goals.”

Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, gave full support to the community service activities. The community service activities, according to Padang, provide a forum for students and lecturers to collaborate in providing awareness and knowledge about current digital developments. “Through this community service program, I hope that UI Vocational can provide real benefits and also have a positive impact on children and the community,” said Padang.
