Depok-The stigma of models who have beautiful faces, white skin, and tall bodies is still often considered the beauty standard for most people. However, this stereotype does not apply to Rizqya Hidayati Nuzula, a student of the Vocational Education Program at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) who has been pursuing her career as a model since she was in high school.

Nuzula considers that currently the stigma of beauty standards has begun to decrease in the modeling industry. She is one of the models who have tan skin. “For me, the beauty standard has changed. Models with unique faces are starting to attract the attention of brand owners to market their products,” said Nuzula. She is also one of the models who had the opportunity to be a photo shoot model in the film “Imperfect” directed by Ernest Prakasa.

Nuzula started her modeling career when she joined modeling extracurricular in high school. Then, she participated and became the Top 60 at the Universitas Indonesia Fashion Week in 2019 after going through a selection with more than 400 models. In the same year, she was recruited as a model by one of the famous modeling agency in Jakarta.

Since then, her debut career in the modeling industry began. Nuzula participated in the Jakarta Fashion Week Model Search 2020 and became the winner as a representative from Jakarta. She also managed to become one of the catwalk models at Jakarta Fashion Week 2020. Her career continues to grow rapidly. She is not only a photo shoot model, but also has several other fashion shows, such as the Nusantara Fashion Festival 2020, Jakarta Fashion Week 2021, and Jakarta Fashion Week 2022. Finally, she had the opportunity to appear at the Jakarta Fashion Trend 2022 bringing clothes from Qonita Gholib, Greenism, Chaera Lee x IKJ, Fey Kayo, and Najua Yanti x IKJ.

As her career continues to grow, Nuzula does not forget her obligations as a student. Currently, she is a student in the Multimedia Broadcasting study program, UI Vocational Education Program. For her, education remains a top priority. Nuzula is not too difficult to divide the time between lectures, modeling, and organization. She explained that so far her modeling work has not interfered with her studies. Also, at this time she is also developing a production house with her college friends to continue to develop her competence in the broadcasting field.

“At first, I was interested in becoming a news anchor, that is why I chose Multimedia Broadcasting major at UI Vocational. However, as time goes on and I learn many things in that department, and now I want to focus more on behind the stage, such as becoming a social media planner, content specialist, and others,” said Nuzula. She considers that her future work will focus more on the media and creative industries. However, it is undeniable that modeling can also be a side job that she wants to continue to develop.
