Through the Voksara team, the UI Vocational contingent won first place and the prestigious <em>Best Choreography<\/em> award at the 20th <em>National Folklore Festival<\/em> (NFF) in the Traditional Dance category at the university level. The annual competition, organized by the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Economics and Business at UI, took place on April 28, 2026, coinciding with the commemoration of World Dance Day.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Voksara is more than just an ordinary dance group. The name &#8220;Voksara&#8221; is the result of a creative dialectic between students from various study programs, combining the identities &#8220;Voks&#8221; (Vokasi) and &#8220;Aksara&#8221; (symbols, language, and meaning). This team is a tangible representation of the spirit of multidisciplinary collaboration that is the hallmark of UI Vocational. The Voksara team consists of five students: Daneyla Dwi Larassati and Selvi Alisya Oriza (Tourism Business Management), Jaisyu Muhammad Al Razzu (Records and Archives Management), and Citra Saei and Raditya Pradipta (Creative Business).   <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the competition, Voksara performed the Pusako Umbrella Dance, rooted in the cultural values \u200b\u200bof the Minangkabau people of West Sumatra. This dance not only emphasizes visual beauty but also conveys a narrative about the protection, existence of traditional heirlooms, and the power of collective effort in preserving cultural heritage. The dynamic elements of Minangkabau martial arts provide powerful energy while maintaining the graceful movements of the dance.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Dr. Safrin Arifin, SKM., S.St., M.Sc., expressed his appreciation for the achievement. &#8220;We truly appreciate the extraordinary achievements of the Voksara team. This success demonstrates that UI Vocational students possess not only academic excellence but also strong non-academic competencies, such as cultural sensitivity and high creativity in preserving the nation&#8217;s heritage. This achievement is a concrete manifestation of the collaborative spirit we instill on campus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Voksara&#8217;s excellence in winning the <em>Best Choreography<\/em> award lies in their ability to translate traditional conventions into a stage language relevant to contemporary audiences. Modern musical arrangements, while retaining traditional instruments, create a harmonious bridge between historical values \u200b\u200band contemporary tastes. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Daneyla Dwi Larassati, a team member, explained, &#8220;We focused not only on synchronizing movements but also on deepening the meaning of each dance transition. The challenge was to combine the assertive energy of silat with the elegance of the umbrella dance, creating a unified feeling that the audience could feel,&#8221; she explained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Behind this success lies a long, dedicated process. All preparations were carried out independently for three months without the assistance of a professional coach. Voksara implemented a digital documentation-based evaluation method, recording each session and then analyzing it collaboratively for accuracy of technique and tempo.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Limited resources were not an obstacle. All aspects of the production, from self-funding to the procurement of authentic costumes from West Sumatra, were managed with efficient project management principles. The presence of male dancers in the team strengthened the character of the choreography, which featured martial arts elements. This success also reflected the synergy of the team members&#8217; academic backgrounds. Tourism Business Management students played a role in packaging the culture as a valuable attraction, Creative Business students provided visual innovation, while Records and Archives Management students ensured that the cultural interpretation remained grounded in historical authenticity.    <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Voksara&#8217;s achievements demonstrate that creativity, collaboration, and commitment are key to preserving national identity.
