Depok-Three students from the University of Indonesia (UI) from the Creative Business study program, Vocational Education Program, successfully won the Bronze Medal in the Ignite Future Fest National Essay & Business Plan Competition held by UIN Sunan Gunung Djati, Bandung, on April 4-5, 2026. Through an innovative artificial intelligence<\/em> (AI)-based platform called UMKM-GO, they presented a digital solution to support the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). <\/p>\n

According to 2021 data from the Indonesian Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, MSMEs contribute more than 60% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employ approximately 97% of the national workforce, making them the backbone of the Indonesian economy. However, despite this significant contribution, MSMEs still face serious challenges, ranging from limited access to funding, low financial literacy, to suboptimal use of digital technology. <\/p>\n

Responding to this complex reality, the UMKM-GO innovator team, Muhammad Fayadh, Adiba Khanza Aleyna Putri, and Stevy Fiter Andina Simatupang, were moved to present an artificial intelligence (AI)-based solution to help MSMEs analyze business feasibility in an objective, structured, and data-driven manner.<\/p>\n

UMKM-GO serves as a bridge between MSMEs and investors. Many MSMEs lack adequate business documentation, complicating the assessment process by funders. Through this platform, MSMEs can obtain a business readiness score complete with in-depth analysis and strategic recommendations. Investors are also facilitated by a more efficient screening system to identify potential MSMEs. This approach demonstrates the use of AI-based big data<\/em>, which can process, analyze, and interpret large amounts of data into valuable information, resulting in real-world solutions for business ecosystem development. <\/p>\n

“By leveraging AI, the UMKM-GO platform is able to provide fast, consistent, and accessible analysis to a wide range of users. This platform not only helps MSMEs improve their management but also encourages a mindset shift toward data-driven decision-making,” said Muhammad Fayadh, representing the team.<\/p>\n

Moreover, MSME-GO’s innovations also contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals<\/em> (SDGs). For SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth<\/em>), MSME-GO supports increased productivity and business sustainability through more accurate performance analysis. Meanwhile, for SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure<\/em>), the platform strengthens the MSME sector’s digital infrastructure by utilizing adaptive AI technology that is relevant to current needs. <\/p>\n

The Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Dr. Safrin Arifin, SKM., S.St., M.Sc., expressed his appreciation for this achievement. “This achievement demonstrates that UI Vocational students are capable of delivering superior technological innovations while simultaneously making a real impact on society. UMKM-GO reflects the integration of science, innovation, and contributions to sustainable development,” he said.<\/p>\n

However, the team recognized that the main challenge in implementing this platform lies in the quality and validity of MSMEs data. Therefore, they developed a system with a simple validation mechanism to ensure the accuracy of the analysis results. In the future, UMKM-GO is expected to be developed through collaboration with the government, financial institutions, and other strategic partners, so that it can be used as a tool in more targeted, inclusive, and data-driven MSMEs development programs. <\/p>\n

The birth of the UMKM-GO innovation demonstrates that UI continues to be a platform for the birth of creative talent capable of delivering innovations with real and sustainable impact on society. The achievements of these UI Vocational students emphasize UI’s role in encouraging the younger generation to excel not only academically but also relevantly address the nation’s socio-economic challenges through innovative and future-oriented solutions. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
