Depok-Andi Tenri Azzah Amjan, a student in the Multimedia Broadcasting program of the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program, has achieved impressive international recognition. He was selected as the sole Indonesian delegate and international speaker<\/em> at the “Amsterdam High-Level Leadership Forum 2026,” which took place from February 13\u201316, 2026, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. <\/p>\n

At the forum, which brought together delegates from 20 countries, Tenri brought up environmental issues through the idea of \u200b\u200bcommunity empowerment based on waste upcycling<\/em>. This concept is a sustainable solution she has been pioneering in Indonesia since high school. <\/p>\n

She pioneered this idea in Indonesia as a tangible contribution to environmental sustainability. Since middle school, Tenri has formed a community focused on managing and reusing waste in the surrounding area, particularly paper, plastic, wood, and leaves. <\/p>\n

Through this community, Tenri and her team educate children and teenagers on the importance of waste management and hone their creativity in recycling waste into useful products. Paper waste is processed into pencil cases and various handicrafts, while leaves are utilized through eco-printing<\/em> techniques to create works of art. <\/p>\n

“For me, environmental issues are a space for action. I want to show that change can start from small communities with simple but consistent steps. Through waste upcycling<\/em>, we not only reduce waste but also build awareness, creativity, and a sense of responsibility for the earth among the younger generation,” said Tenri. <\/p>\n

She also added that his participation in the forum provided an opportunity to introduce Indonesia’s sound environmental practices to the world. “I feel honored to be able to bring environmental and social issues in Indonesia to an international forum. The cross-cultural discussions opened my perspective that global challenges like climate change, education, and social inequality require cross-national and cross-disciplinary collaboration,” she added. <\/p>\n

During the forum, Tenri actively participated in cross-cultural discussions with delegates from various countries, including Brazil, England, Japan, and Egypt. She was even appointed as a group leader in one of the discussion sessions, focusing on designing a community concept with social impact. This participation also provided an opportunity for Tenri to introduce environmental practices from an Indonesian perspective. <\/p>\n

Tenri’s participation in this forum aligns with its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals<\/em> (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education<\/em>), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production<\/em>), and SDG 13 (Climate Action<\/em>). Tenri’s initiatives reflect the integration of education, community empowerment, and sustainable environmental action. <\/p>\n

The Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Dr. Safrin Arifin, SKM., S.St., M.Sc., expressed his appreciation for this achievement. “Tenri’s participation as the sole Indonesian delegate in this international forum is proof that UI Vocational students are capable of competing and contributing at the global level. UI Vocational continues to strive to prepare competent graduates who also possess social awareness and a global perspective,” he said.<\/p>\n

Tenri’s participation in this international forum is inseparable from the relevance of the learning he received during his studies in the Multimedia Broadcasting study program. Through a practice-based learning approach, students are equipped not only with technical skills in content production, but also competencies in intercultural communication, public speaking<\/em>, and multimedia storytelling<\/em>. The Head of the Multimedia Broadcasting Study Program, Peny Meliaty Hutabarat, M.S.M., said, “We equip students not only with production skills, but also with critical and creative thinking and how to convey ideas strategically.
