Depok-Vocational Education Program of Universitas Indonesia (UI) held an international chatbot competition called the Global Chatbot Competition (GCC) 2021 for Digital Business. In the competition, a group of students from UI Vocational managed to win three titles, and came out as the overall champion. The victory was obtained from the Kiddy Bank team who won 1st place and the 2nd place was won by the KalaBot team in the Best Creative Content category. While in the Best Technical Chatbot category, the second place was won by the Student Click team.
UI Vocational Winners in the 2021 GCC Artificial Intelligence Competition
Each team that participated in the competition consisted of four students. Nikolaus Yuda Pratama, Siska Humaira, Keisya Khaulika, and Muhammad Azis Prakoso are members of the Kiddy Bank team. Meanwhile, the KalaBot Team consists of Aliya Noor Dewi, Devina Sekarrini, Monica Claudia Erlisa, and Oktavia Nabila Nur Faizah. Then, the Student Click team members consisted of Felita Tiosari, Amanda Amalia, Dhia Ayu Puteri Pagarra, and Faridah Hanum.
The competition was held virtually on June 1 to July 1, 2021, which was attended by 10 campuses in Indonesia. The competition aims to provide education about artificial intelligence (AI) in the form of designing chatbots. The winners of the Best Technical Chatbot category are Abank Cici, Student Click, and Bang Tap teams. The Best Creative Content category was won by the Kiddy Bank, Kalabot, and Tanya Tama chatbot teams.
Chatbot is an AI-based computer program aka virtual robot that can simulate conversations like humans. At the event, there were three major themes, namely banking and finance, e-commerce, and e-government. GCC can be followed by any group, not limited to those with IT/programmer backgrounds. This activity, which was supported by PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk, was attended by more than 150 participants from 9 universities, the campus network of the Indonesian Banking and Finance Diploma Program Association (ADIKPI), and involved AI professionals, both from Indonesia and abroad.
Maharani Risa Putri, Chairperson of the 2021 GCC Committee, who is a student of the Financial and Banking Administration Study Program, explained that this virtual competition was held in a month-long marathon and was divided into three stages of activity. The first stage is the design of the chatbot, then the stage of technical assessment and vote gathering from the social community, and the grand final. “From the 13 chatbot works that appeared in the final round, the jury team consisting of AI experts and Singapore digital business, managed to determine three winners each based on two categories of winners,” said Maharani
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Steering Committee who is also the UI Vocational Head of Business Administration Studies, Dede Suryanto, S.Sos., M.Si., said that digital transformation is currently targeting almost all aspects of life. “Given the increasingly rapid digital development and application in various aspects of life, students also need to equip themselves with mastery of artificial intelligence (AI) technology from an early age so that they can answer the challenges of HR qualifications needed by industry 4.0 in various sectors,” said Dede.
UI Vocational continues to expand collaboration with various industries and business players at home and abroad. This event is a form of overseas cooperation, which is the result of collaboration with the AI professional community Global AI4IMPACT, Singapore technology company Terra AI, and Qera Connecting Global Education Malaysia.
The Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sigit Pranowo Hadiwardoyo, DEA added, “The collaboration carried out by UI Vocational with industry and global business players is expected to continue, so that the quality of vocational education and the competence of lecturers and students continue to improve. Through international competitions like this, it is also possible to develop a positive image and good reputation for UI Vocational, so as to attract foreign partners to build cooperation.
