Depok-Three students from the Public Relations study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), recently won second place in the 2nd Sustainable Innovation National Essay Competition (SINEC) 2026. They achieved this through their innovative idea, ABILITY CLOUD, designed to foster a more inclusive work environment for people with disabilities.

The three students, members of Team TRIANGLE, consisting of Tiffani Amanda Azzahra, Ribka Angelia Simatupang, and Azzahra Firouza Puteri, outperformed hundreds of participants from various universities and educational institutions across Indonesia through an innovation that combined policy, communication, and technology approaches.

The national essay competition, themed “From Local Ideas to Global Impact: Empowering Youth as Innovation Catalysts for a Sustainable Future,” was held as a hybrid event by Cakap Riset in collaboration with the Indonesian Law Research Student Association (AMPHI) and Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta. The grand finale took place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, with a Poster Exhibition and Final Presentation at the Graha Bina Husada Auditorium, Poltekkes Yogyakarta.

Equal access to a decent job market is the right of every citizen, including people with disabilities. However, people with disabilities still face various challenges in achieving equal employment opportunities, ranging from limited accessibility, stigma and discrimination, to the suboptimal implementation of policies that support an inclusive work environment.

Based on this issue, the TRIANGLE Team presented an essay entitled “Reforming Inclusivity: Transforming Remote Work Policy and Digital Branding as Catalysts for an Inclusive Work Ecosystem for Youth with Disabilities with IoT Systems.” Through this work, they introduced ABILITY CLOUD, an innovation designed to increase the participation of people with disabilities in the workforce in a more comprehensive and sustainable manner.

ABILITY CLOUD integrates three main strategies. First, it encourages reform of remote work policies as a form of more flexible and accessible work accommodation for people with disabilities. Second, it introduces the Inclusive Branding Initiative (IBI), a strategy that helps companies build an inclusive work culture while strengthening their reputation for supporting diversity and equality. Third, it develops an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT)-based platform to support the recruitment, training, competency development, and ongoing monitoring of workers with disabilities.

Through this approach, ABILITY CLOUD is expected to not only open access to job opportunities, but also help create an equal, adaptive and sustainable work environment. ABILITY CLOUD innovation also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 10 (Reducing Inequalities) by encouraging equal, inclusive and sustainable access to work for people with disabilities.

The Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Dr. Safrin Arifin, S.K.M., S.St., M.Sc., praised the achievements of the TRIANGLE Team. According to him, this achievement demonstrates the ability of vocational students to present innovations relevant to community needs. “Through ABILITY CLOUD, UI Vocational students demonstrate that the best innovations are born from the ability to understand community needs. They present solutions that integrate communication, policy, and technology to encourage a more inclusive world of work,” said Safrin.

The TRIANGLE Team’s journey to becoming champion was a long one. After registering their work in March 2026, they had to compete with more than 300 teams from various universities and educational institutions in Indonesia. The TRIANGLE Team then successfully qualified along with 70 other teams to the grand final round. For approximately three months, they refined the ABILITY CLOUD idea and prototype, compiled a pitch deck, prepared a poster, and practiced delivering an intensive presentation. At the Poster Exhibition stage, the TRIANGLE Team again recorded a proud result by being selected as one of the nine best teams in the sub-theme they participated in. They then presented their innovation in the Final Presentation round and were finally crowned National Runner-Up.

The TRIANGLE team also brought various creative elements to strengthen the ABILITY CLOUD concept. They created the A-Bi Robot as a mascot, developed a digital prototype, and created a jingle titled “Terbang Gapai Asa,” which was choreographed and featured in the Poster Exhibition session.

Each team member fulfills a role according to their area of ​​expertise. Tiffani Amanda Azzahra focuses on policy analysis and national data processing related to employment for people with disabilities. Ribka Angelia Simatupang develops communication and corporate branding strategies through the Inclusive Branding Initiative. Meanwhile, Azzahra Firouza Puteri designs the AI- and IoT-based ABILITY CLOUD technology concept.

“This collaboration resulted in innovation that combines communication, public policy, and technology perspectives into one integrated solution. Our success is also inseparable from the practice-based learning implemented at UI Vocational. Several courses, such as Communication Program Development, Entrepreneurship, Applied Research, and Corporate Communication, helped us identify problems, process data, develop communication strategies, and design structured and applicable solutions,” said Azzahra.

The TRIANGLE Team’s achievements demonstrate that vocational students are not only capable of understanding the issues facing society but also of developing relevant, innovative solutions that have the potential to have a real impact. Through ABILITY CLOUD, they bring a passion for realizing a workplace that provides equal opportunities for every individual, including people with disabilities.
