Depok-Barijani Mahesa Putra, a student of the Public Relations study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI) once again won another achievement as Abang Favorit Jakarta Barat 2022 on the Final Night of the 2022 Abang None Jakarta Barat Selection at the Aston Kartika Grogol Hotel, Jakarta West on Friday (29/7). The event was held after all the finalists went through various rigorous selections. This year, the Abang None Jakarta Barat election was attended by 250 participants and 15 pairs were selected to compete until the final stage.

Mahesa, who is also a national roller skating athlete, revealed that the Abang None Jakarta Barat 2022 contest was a learning medium for him to know the development of Jakarta’s culture and tourism. Also, as a student studying the world of public relations, he said that one of the roles of a public relations practitioner is to establish good communication with the government and the community. “Through various trainings given during quarantine, I and the other finalists learned how to develop ourselves, such as improving public speaking skills, appearing in public, and introducing Jakarta culture to the wider community,” said Mahesa.
Each competition, according to Mahesa, has different challenges. He said, “The challenges I face this time are certainly different from previous competitions. The Abang None Jakarta Barat 2022 contest focuses more on public awareness that needs to be increased about Jakarta’s culture and tourism. So, as a tourism ambassador, I have to be more updated about various phenomena that exist in Jakarta, especially West Jakarta.” With the title he won, for the next one year, Mahesa will serve in various programs that have been announced by Abang None Jakarta Barat 2022.

While studying at the UI Vocational, Mahesa has made various achievements, both as athletes and students. Previously, Mahesa won a medal at the PON XX Papua 2021 and managed to advance as a finalist in the National Diploma Level Student Achievement Selection representing UI.

Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, expressed his appreciation for Mahesa’s various achievements. “I am very happy with the enthusiasm and high spirit shown by Mahesa in introducing the Jakarta tourism industry. Of course, it is a pride for us, the Universitas Indonesia, to have young people who want to continue to grow and benefit the wider community,” said Padang.
