Depok-The Public Relations Vocational Student Association of the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program held a social activity at the YBKN Al-Hasyim Orphanage, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta on Saturday, August 21, 2021. This activity is intended for orphanage children who have an age range of approximately 6 – 12 years as many as 25 people. The activity, entitled PR Crayon (PR Creative Charity to Keep The Young Shine On) aims to provide education, motivation, and at the same time meet the needs of the orphanage children in the form of donations and basic necessities. The theme of the activity is “Setting up goals for the future”, where children are given education about their goals and how to achieve them. This activity is carried out by following the health protocols that have been set by the local government.

This activity is a work program of the UI Public Relations Vocational Student Association, which is a collaboration between the Department of Arts and Culture and the Department of Career and Social Development. Head of the Department of Arts and Culture, Najwa Puteri Dianti, explained that this activity is expected to develop a sense of knowledge and creativity from an early age for orphanage children, especially in the arts. “Through educational activities with the theme “arranging ideals for the future”, we hope that they can describe their wishes and aspirations in the future,” explained Najwa.

The students presented presentations and educational videos about the importance of having and achieving goals. After that, they were asked to make pictures on cardboard about the ideals they want to realize, then tell them in front of their friends. Then, a Talent Show Appreciation Session was also held so that they could show their ability, creativity, and increase their courage and confidence in front of many people.

Head of the Career & Social Development Department, Amelia Sri Melati, added that through this activity, fundraising was also carried out. “Through our open fundraising, the funds that have been collected are given to the orphanage in the form of basic necessities, new normal kits, and cash to help pay school fees for the orphans,” she explained.

Amelia added, “With this social activity, we as students can share knowledge, happiness, and benefits for all the children in the Al-Hasyim YBKN orphanage. We hope that this activity can increase our sense of social awareness as students and become a blessing for all of us.”

Head of the Public Relations Study Program, Pijar Suciati, S.Sos., M.Si., said that she always supports positive activities carried out by students. “We hope that this activity can be a good start for the sharing spirit of the UI Vocational Public Relations Student Association (HM Vokhum). Hopefully HM Vokhum will continue to spark their creative ideas in organizing other social activities in the future,” concluded Pijar.[:]
