DEPOK – On April 30, 2019 at the Auditorium Building C of Vocational Educational Program Universitas Indonesia, Public Relations Study Program and Communication Vocational Study Program Student Association, held a 2019 Community Service series by presenting a talkshow with the theme “Millennial in Digital Industry”, with the speaker: Auri Jaya (Director Main Genpi.Co); Yessy Yani Agus (Head of Trans TV Production Dept.); Eric Daniel T, SpPD, FINASIM (PhD Candidate Imperial College London); Ucie Sucita (Selebgram); Domex Mandey (Chief Evangelist Space). The activity was attended by 350 participants consisting of teachers, students from high schools, vocational schools, campuses and the wider community throughout Jabodetabek.

“This talkshow activity is a series of PR Vocational Community Service programs, by presenting successful young figures, to become an inspiration for millennials. After being inspired, they can also join Kampung Digital to get techniques to be tactical success, “said Amelita Lusia, Public Relations Vocational Servant.

“On the other hand, when they have problems achieving success goals such as addiction to games or pornographic shows, they can also find solutions at the Vokom UI Digital Clinic,” added Reska Herlambang, Co-Founder of Digital Clinic.

“When talking about Millennials, often what comes up is 3M’s stigma for millennials, namely laziness, poverty and fantasies of being unproductive. This is driven by, among other things, scientific research conducted by the Central Bank in America which states that millennials are the generation with the lowest income with the least welfare (poor) compared to previous generations. Not only that, the results of the FGD conducted by the Vocational Public Relations Team during 2018-2019 found that the industry was overwhelmed in dealing with millennial workers because of their low work ethic and termination (laziness), “said Devie Rahmawati, Chair of the Vocational Community Service.

“Of course, this is not entirely true. We know that the presence of millennials with strong creativity (having high imaginations / delusions) has actually driven the fastest progress in the history of human civilization, which is only in 50 years. Call it the presence of various digital applications that make it easier for human daily activities, “added Devie Rahmawati, Head of the UI Public Relations Vocational Study Program.

“The presence of four speakers representing various media, business, health and entertainment industries is expected to guide millennials to understand the scope of work, the dynamics they face and the tricks of surviving in the industry,” said Rangga Wisesa, Vocational Researcher for Public Relations at UI.

“Millennial children tend to listen more to the success stories that come from the same people as them. For this reason, we present young speakers, so that the messages can be conveyed casually and well received by the participants, “added Namira, Chair of the 2019 Reaction Committee.

The Millennial Connected Community Service activity is part of the 2019 Reaction Event, which is an awarding activity for the wider community from various fields. As an educational institution, it is our obligation to always provide knowledge and skills for free to the wider community, ”concluded Danurifqi, Chairman of Communication Vocational Study Program Student Association.[:]
