Depok-Vocational Education Program of Universitas Indonesia, again, held a Campus Life Introduction for New Students (PKKMB) online via Zoom and YouTube on August 2, 2021 with the theme “One in Diversity”. It is one of a series of PKKMB activities at the Universitas Indonesia aimed at new students from the 2021 batch.

This activity begins with an opening by the MC. Then, it was followed by a speech by the Director of the Vocational Education Program of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sigit Pranowo Hadiwardoyo, DEA. In his speech, he introduced the Applied Bachelor program which consists of six study programs, namely the Creative Business Study Program, Media Production, Tourism Business Management, Records and Archives Management, Physiotherapy, and Occupational Therapy. He also explained that this was the first year to run the Applied Bachelor program for the Universitas Indonesia. He hopes that in the coming years the Applied Bachelor program can continue to grow in line with the increasing industrial needs in various sectors.

“UI Vocational has a learning system with a 3-2-1 curriculum for the Associate’s degree program. Meanwhile, the Applied Bachelor program applies a learning system of 70% practice and 30% theory, then students will work on projects and also thesis. The graduates will be a job creator, not a job seeker,” Sigit explained.

After that, remarks by the Director General of Vocational Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Wikan Sakarinto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. In his remarks, he welcomed new students and hoped that vocational graduates throughout Indonesia could become competent, superior, and skilled human resources by exploring and studying the material provided by the campus.

Then, this activity was continued with remarks by Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D. as Deputy Director for Education, Research and Student Affairs, as well as the introduction of facilities and infrastructure, and organizational structure of UI Vocational by Ir. Antony Sihombing, MPD, Ph.D. as Deputy Director for Resources, Venture and General Administration. Furthermore, the video showing testimonials from UI Vocational alumni and also showing the video “One in Diversity”, produced by UI Vocational Multimedia Broadcasting Study Program students.

This activity ended with PKKMB by each study program via Zoom. The new students are invited to get acquainted with the lecturers of their respective study programs who will be their instructors while studying on campus.[:]
